They told me wrong
when I was a kid.
Too young to know better.
They told me the Lord
would keep me safe
(And that part’s true)
But they told me safe meant protected, unharmed, healthy.
They didn’t tell me life would attack me. Or that it might hurt
to live out our God-given purpose. Even if it meant that
my very own health
might be sacrificed.
But I’ve come to learn
that it’s “saved”
that means safe.
And not the other
way around.
Safety is a choice
of faith. Not a right
of simply living.
